Wisely Group is pleased to announce the appointment of Chris Bugeja as Chief Executive Officer, effective as of 23 April. Chris has previously held a number of senior management positions in the mining and heavy automotive vehicle industries.

Founder and newly appointed Chairman of the Executive Board, Bob Wisely said that he was looking forward to supporting Chris through the transition and that it marks an exciting growth phase for Wisely Group. “Chris is a progressive and experienced leader. He brings extensive knowledge of the mining and heavy automotive vehicle industries, along with a strong background in continuous improvement and operations management. He is the ideal candidate for the position of CEO,” he said.

Bob said that he would continue to be actively involved in the business in his new role as Chairman, while Chris would take an active lead in the management of daily operations and driving innovation, growth and safety.

The announcement coincides with Wisely Group’s 25th birthday and while it has no current impact on major daily operations, it’s reflective of its growth into a larger organisation on a global scale.

“The last 12 months have been monumental in our growth and development. We have increased to 500 employees and have gained contracts across Australia and in a number of international countries.

Chris joins us at a pivotal time and his guidance will be instrumental to our continued success,” he said.

Wisely Services, along with CRRC Yangtze and Pacific National, welcomed a shipment of 36 RNAY Rail Wagons to the Port of Mackay last month.

Arriving from CRRC Yangtze China, the wagons were delivered as flat packs with the 3 car bodies and the bogie assembles as separate items. The bogies were placed on the rail line and the car bodies lifted into place using 2 mobile cranes. Once the wagons were rolling, they were fitted out with brake hoses, brake control rods, container locks, earth straps, AEI tags. Paint touch-ups were done on all wagons at the end of the contract before leaving site.

Using the rail line that services Queensland Sugar Limited, a team of five transformed the wagons & completed the brake testing and commissioning. Wagons will be used for transporting general freight for Pacific National.

The wagons are now ready for their runs from Cairns to Brisbane. Well done to the crew for a successful project!

Wisely Group value diversity and inclusion and today celebrate the achievements of women both internationally and within our organisation. The theme for this International Women’s Day is #BalanceForBetter – a call to action for driving gender balance. Wisely Group acknowledges all of the women that contribute to our successful business!

Meet Rosanna Hellwege, the first face our clients and employees first see in our Mackay head office. Rosanna started with Wisely Group in 2014 as an Administration Assistant.

Her role now includes managing the reception, providing a professional level of service to our staff and customers, ensuring that all interactions are positive and support the values of Wisely Group.

As the first point of contact, whether by phone or in person at our front reception, Rosanna always has a smile on her face and is willing to assist.

Wisely continues to celebrate  International Women’s Day 2019 (IWD).

We would like to introduce you to Grace Budd who works for Wisely Asset Management as an MA & I Specialist.

Describe your role with Wisely: I’m based out on a mine site and look after improvement initiatives within the maintenance team. Through data analysis, developing business cases and executing projects, I enable functional excellence and support business priorities for continuous improvement.

What has been the biggest challenge for you in the mining industry? The lifestyle. Working away from home can be hard and lonely at times but the people I work with have become my support network and it’s getting easier every day.
Wisely Group continues to celebrate International Women’s Day 2019 (IWD), by sharing experiences from Women that work across our various Wisely Group departments.

Do you believe that gender equality has improved in the mining industry? I started this role with an expectation that the industry would be ‘male dominated’ and that I would struggle to get anywhere as a woman. Once I started with Wisely, my opinion dramatically changed. I have received so much support and care since being in this role and I have never experienced any form of discrimination. There are more women on the mine site all the time and it is great to see!

Wisely Group had the pleasure of welcoming TUF Minds to our office in recent weeks to talk to our employees about the benefits of the TUF minds app that has been developed by a local medical practice.

This is a free app that can be download and used by everyone.

We all know someone with mental health challenges or going through stressful times. Maybe a family member, friend or even yourself. You don’t need to be an expert – just a good friend and a great listener. So, if you notice someone who might be struggling – start a conversation and don’t forget to ask someone how they are when you pass them in the staff room.

Our team at Wisely Group are committed to the local communities that we live and work in. Together the team raised $750 to donate to the Triple M Mackay & The Whitsundays Toy Drive which seeks to ensure no child wakes up on Christmas day without a gift.  It is certainly a wonderful time of year, but for many families, we know it can also be a tough time.

Well done to Wisely Services and our Weipa Evan’s Landing Project Team! After spending the last 3-4 months up at the tip of Australia, they’ve achieved an amazing result – and on budget too! Wisely Group would like to congratulate the team and all those involved along the way on a fantastic job.
